What it takes to become a member of Sunset Fire and Rescue Volunteer Fire Department:
We respond from pager. This requires that you live within a certain amount of time from the station. This time requirement is decided by the Chief of the Department. However you do not need to live in Sunset,
§ You must fill out an application.
§ You must submit to a National Background Check
§ You must be at least 18 years of age
§ You must have not committed a felony.
§ You may have to submit to a Driver History Check through DMV.
1. Obtain an application from Sunset City Building, located at 1300 North and 250 West, Sunset Utah 84015.
2. Drop off the completed application at the Fire Station, located at 85 West 1800 North Sunset Utah, 84015
3. You will be invited to a Physical Agility test. Details of this test will be given to you on the phone or by mail.
5. A list will be compiled from the applicants after the Physical Agility tests, and members from the list will be contacted to receive an oral interview with Chiefs.
We require our members to meet the following requirements to stay in good standing.
To attend at least 75% monthly meetings. (Meetings are every Thursday nights from 6:30pm to 9:00pm, OR Monday afternoons from 11:00am to 1:00pm) Quarterly
To run at least 40% of the calls Quarterly.
Complete FTO program in 6 months or less
Work at least 2 medical shifts a month
